Hi Amy,
Welcome back
to Love Romances! As you know we have changed our name to Love Romances &
More to reflect the changes and growth we have experienced over the past
few years. Today I hope you will share with readers the changes you have
made in your life, your writing style and let us know what path your
writing career has taken.
Thanks so
much for having me! It's good to be back!
What major
changes have taken place since we last spoke in 2004?
Well, I've
published two more novels and have two more due out later this year.
Your first
novel WAVES OF FATE has gone out-of-print, do you have plans to re-release
it?
As of yet,
I really haven't decided whether or not to re-release Waves of Fate and
Cannibury Hill. That's not to say that it won't happen someday.
Your latest
release SECRETS WITHIN is set in Massachusetts, are you from this area?
Do you have special memories related to a house that is similar to the one
being renovated by Reese and Evan?
Actually,
the book is set in a fictitious town in
New York. Massachusetts was
where my heroine had lived before moving back to her hometown of Wild
Ridge. I'm a New Yorker myself, and although I don't have any memories of
a house quite like Reese's, it's always been my dream to one day renovate
an old Victorian.
Reese totally
wants to believe in Evan’s innocence, have you ever met a man you felt
strongly was wrongly convicted?
I have to
say, I've never been put in the predicament in which I put my heroine.
LOL.
Your next
novel, ALONE IN FORRESTER ROCK has been in the works for quite some time,
has it been put on the back burner until now?
Actually,
ALONE IN FORRESTER ROCK has already been released in print. I'm happy to
announce its upcoming re-release will be with Samhain Publishing Ltd.
Can you tell
us more about the characters we will meet in ALONE IN FORRESTER ROCK and
how they are portrayed in the novel?
The novel
brings together Victoria Valentino-aka Tori Russo-a woman forced into the
Witness Protection Program-and a lonely drifter named Walker Garrison.
UNDYING
PASSIONS is also due out in 2007, how does this affect your promoting of
ALONE IN FORRESTER ROCK?
Undying
Passions isn't due out until September, so I'll have plenty of time to
devote to the promotion of Alone in Forrester Rock.
Are you more
of a “by the seat of her pants” writer or an outliner?
Definitely
by the seat of my pants LOL.
Can you tell
us more about your works in progress and what is next on your agenda for
your writing career?
Right now
I'm working on a romantic suspense titled Tropical Illusions. Here's a
sneak peek: Felicia Mathews is miles away from home, on a sandy beach, on
the most beautiful tropical island where she must trust no one, not even
the very sexy Nash Brewer. Little does she know, her dream vacation, the
man making all those dreams come true, are nothing more than an illusion.
Where can readers
learn more about you?
They can visit my website at
www.AmyMistretta.com and also sign up for my
monthly newsletter there too.
Do you do book
signings and/or chats online?
Yes, I'll be
doing several book signings this year, all of which will be announced on
my website and in my newsletter.
How long have
you been writing?
I've been
writing for about six years now.
What was
your first novel to be submitted to a publisher, and did you get published
on the first work?
My first
novel submitted was Waves of Fate - and it wasn't until my fourth
submission that it was accepted for publication.
Who has
been your greatest influence on your writing style?
I'd have to
say Sandra Brown and Nora
Roberts - they've been my silent mentors
J
How does your family feel about your being a published author?
Oh, they
love it and are very proud.
How do
you juggle family, your job and writing?
I work from
home, so that helps a lot, and both my children are in school full time.
You are
an editor for Soaps.com. How does this influence your characters?
Really not
at all - the two jobs are completely separate.
What are
your favorite soaps, and do you get to watch them daily?
I'm very
fortunate that I'm a Soaps.com editor for both my favorite soaps: The
Young and the Restless and One Life to Live. Part of my job description is
to write the daily recaps for the shows, so yes, I do watch them everyday.
What is
a day in the life of Amy
Mistretta like?
I get up
every morning at 5:00am to get my husband off to work, then by 8:00am, I
have the kids off to school. From then till 3:30pm, I work for Soaps.com -
just in time for hubby and the kids to get home. After dinner, I sneak off
into my office and escape into whichever world my 'work in progress' is at
that moment. Needless to say, it's very busy in the Mistretta household
LOL!
What has been
your favorite novel to write?
It's hard
to pick, but since you're making me - LOL - I'll say my latest release
SECRETS WITHIN.
Do you relate
to any one character more than others in your own novels?
I relate to
Sable in Cannibury Hill probably the most - as I grew up on that same farm
that I incorporated into the book and storyline.
If you could
be any character in a novel, who would you be?
From one of
my novels, Tori Russo in ALONE IN FORRESTER ROCK. Although she faced a
pretty scary road, always looking over her shoulder, learning to love
again was sweet justice - for everyone involved.
What is your
favorite movie?
Call me a
sap, but it's Dirty Dancing LOL.
You are a
biker chick at heart… Where is your favorite place to ride off to?
Anywhere
with my husband in the country.
If you get to
plan a night alone with your husband, what would you make the plan to be
and where would you go?
We'd head
out for a night of dinner and dancing, then retreat with a blanket and
some wine to a beach to sleep underneath the stars…
Amy, Thanks
for taking the time to talk to us, we look forward to reading more from
you in the near future!
Again,
thanks so much for having me! It's always a pleasure!
Before
leaving, any last words for readers?
To my
readers: You make everything I do worthwhile and I appreciate each and
every one of you! Follow your dreams and reach for the stars…
